Scoping of investment opportunities in nature, biodiversity and climate

Client:

Bikubenfonden, 15. Juni Fonden og Fonden Arkaia

Period:

August to October 2025

Bikubenfonden, 15 June Foundation and the Arkaia foundation wanted a comprehensive overview of how the green tripartite and Denmark’s commitments under the Kunming-Montreal Agreement can be translated into new, effective foundation initiatives. The purpose was to identify where the foundations’ future investments can create the greatest possible value for nature, biodiversity and climate.

Jordnær Rådgivning conducted in-depth desk research of current scientific reports and political agreements. This was combined with interviews with 25 experts, decision-makers and opinion leaders, with a mapping of ten foundations’ current and future investments, as well as workshops with foundations and experts to qualify needs and opportunities.

The work resulted in a needs assessment and an idea catalog with eight central themes and associated proposals for new philanthropic initiatives. The material gave the foundations an overall strategic picture of where their efforts can have the greatest impact.

The analysis now forms the basis for a number of foundations’ decisions on new initiatives in 2026. The initiatives support the implementation of the green tripartite agreement and supplement the agreement with new opportunities for targeted investments in nature and biodiversity.

“We have been extremely satisfied with our collaboration with Peter Norn. He provided an analysis that greatly strengthened our work – both internally and in collaboration with external actors. Trust, high professionalism and innovative thinking are the hallmarks of Jordnær Rådgivning.”

– Emilie Refsgaard. Bikubenfonden
